The application window for Pasadena Unified’s Open Enrollment lottery begins at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 9 and ends at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 26. Applications are submitted online. It does not matter when during the application window you submit an application, but it is best not to wait until the last minute! During this “first” lottery, new and continuing TK-12 students residing in PUSD boundaries may apply for schools other than the student’s neighborhood school or for a dual language immersion program.
Children of full-time, monthly PUSD employees and full-time, monthly employees of the City of Pasadena (verification required) are eligible to participate, even if they do not live in Altadena, Pasadena, or Sierra Madre.
Families who missed the fall sibling/program priority application period continue to be eligible for sibling/program priority during the 1st lottery.
First lottery participants not offered their 1st choice may remain on wait lists for any higher preference schools until one week before school begins.
You do not list your assigned school of residence on your lottery application, unless you are applying for a dual language program located at that school.
