PUSD is redrawing its board trustee election areas
The Redistricting Commission, required by city charter, has held 9 meetings so far. These meetings are all open to the public. The recordings of the last six meetings are available on the district’s website.
The total change in resident census population for PUSD (which encompasses the cities of Pasadena and Sierra Madre, and parts of unincorporated LA county – Altadena and two others) was an increase of 2788 residents. Some individual districts grew and some declined. Because the overall variance from each district being equal is greater than 10%, the maps must be redrawn. (See below for a document with the population changes from 2010 to 2020 broken down by ethnicity and sub district).
So far, the commission has reviewed around 6 preliminary maps (this happened during the 12/6 and 12/7 meetings) and discussed changes. At this point, 2 proposed maps are posted on the district website for the public to give input on.
At this point, it appears that the final maps must be approved by the Board of Education by 2/28/22.
