What to Expect in Kindergarten this Fall

A RECORDING OF THIS PROGRAM WILL BE POSTED SOON, AND THE LINK (PLUS Q&A SUMMARY) EMAILED TO PEN MEMBERS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO REGISTERED FOR THE PROGRAM. IF YOU DID NOT REGISTER AND WISH TO GET AN UPDATE, YOU CAN JOIN PEN HERE TO BE ADDED TO OUR MAILING LIST. (There is no membership cost, but your tax-deductible contributions help support our work and are appreciated!)

If your child will be starting kindergarten (or TK) this fall and you are feeling a bit freaked out trying to imagine what at-home learning looks like for 5 year olds, this PEN Zoom program will address many of your questions and give you a sense of what to expect when the school year opens on August 17 with all students receiving 100% online instruction. We’ll include:

  • a sample distance learning schedule

  • how involved you will need to be as a parent (and what you can expect of teachers and your child’s school)

  • why this is a better alternative than “home schooling”

This program will include a presentation from PUSD staff. (Please note, due to time constraints, this program will focus on the core instructional program and the 100% Online learning model.) Spanish translation will be provided.

PEN will ask PUSD staff to answer questions from those that were submitted in advance. Space is limited to 300 people during the Zoom event, but the event will be recorded and shared. Any additional questions not addressed during the program may be submitted to PEN via email, and we will do our best to respond and post responses to common questions on our Facebook and “Ask PEN” webpage.
