Programs for Parents

Check the PEN calendar for the dates of our upcoming programs for parents.

As parents ourselves, we recognize that exploring, evaluating and engaging with schools can be a time consuming, exciting, and sometimes frustrating process if you don't know where to start.  That's why we provide programs and services that help parents get the information they need for a smooth transition to kindergarten and middle school, and to help parents become effective partners with their schools and the school district.

We encourage all parents to join us at our free community-based programs.  You'll connect with other parents and with the information you need so that you and your child can be successful starting the first day of school. Most programs last approximately two hours unless otherwise indicated.  Spanish translation is available upon request.

PEN staff is also available to deliver on-site programs for preschools and parent groups. Contact susan@penfamilies.org for more information.

PEN provides opportunities for parents to meet with experts, parents, and teachers to help them learn how to evaluate schools, find out what’s happening at PUSD schools, and ways to ease the transition to kindergarten.
PEN offers programs that will help parents understand how to evaluate middle schools and the developmental needs of middle school students, learn what PUSD has to offer, and provide parents with opportunities to meet other PUSD elementary and middle school parents.

Through our Parents As Leaders programs, PEN provides numerous opportunities and trainings for parents to learn how to effectively engage with their schools, increase their leadership skills, and share information.
