Programs for Parents

Final Fall 2011 PEN program: Navigating Open Enrollment was Tues., Nov. 29, 7-9:00 pm at Pasadena Central Library (download flyer).

As parents ourselves, we recognize that exploring, evaluating and engaging with schools can be a time consuming, exciting, and sometimes frustrating process if you don't know where to start.  That's why we provide programs and services that help parents get the information they need for a smooth transition to kindergarten and middle school, and to help parents become effective partners with their schools and the school district.

We encourage all parents to join us at our free community-based programs so you can connect with other parents and with the information you need so that you and your child can be successful starting the first day of school. Most programs last approximately two hours unless otherwise indicated.  Spanish translation is available. (Download our Fall 2011 Program Flyers.)

PEN staff is also available to deliver on-site programs for preschools and parent groups. Contact susan@penfamilies.org for more information.

PEN provides opportunities for parents to meet with experts, parents, and teachers to help them learn how to evaluate schools, find out what’s happening at PUSD schools, and ways to ease the transition to kindergarten.
PEN offers programs that will help parents understand how to evaluate middle schools and the developmental needs of middle school students, and provide parents with opportunities to meet other PUSD elementary and middle school parents.

PEN, in collaboration with PUSD, provides our annual Parents As Leaders workshop which provides parents with the tools and skills to effectively partner with their schools.
