PEN educational programs are free and open to the public. Please note that this fall's programs will take place in two venues:
- Programs for parents of incoming elementary students and "Navigating Open Enrollment" will be held in the Crawford Family Forum, 474 S. Raymond St., one block west of Arroyo Parkway, between Del Mar and California Blvds. On- and off-street parking are available.
- Programs for families considering their middle school options will be held at the Pasadena Central Library's Donald Wright Auditorium, 285 E. Walnut St., Pasadena. Off-street parking is available in the Parole Office lot just east of the library building on Walnut St.

Educational policy specialist Dr. Mikala Rahn provides preschool parents a framework for thinking about what to look for when considering where to send your child for kindergarten -- and how to evaluate both quantitative data and qualitative information about elementary schools.
Crawford Family Forum is part of the Southern California Public Radio (KPCC) Studio complex on South Raymond, between Del Mar and California Blvds. Both on and off-street parking is available in the evening.
PEN Event - The Next Frontier: Exploring Middle School OptionsOct. 13, 2010

Education policy expert Michael Butler provides a framework to help parents make sense of the quantitative and non-quantitative factors that bear on finding a good middle school for their student. What do API and CST scores tell you about a school - and what do they not tell you? What other factors should inform your decision, and what happens if your first choice turns out not to be an option? This program will prepare parents of 5th graders to get the most from middle school tours.
This program will take place at the Pasadena Central Library Auditorium. Please note that the library parking lot is not available for this event. Free parking is available after 7 pm in the Parole Office lot just east of the library building on Walnut.

PEN Event - Myth V. Reality II: Middle School Parent PanelNov. 9, 2010

Parents with children enrolled in PUSD secondary schools share their experience and perspectives on middle school. Opportunity for parents of upper elementary school students to ask questions and hear from parents who've been there and ARE there, at stand-alone middle schools and secondary schools across the Pasadena Unified School District.
This program will take place at the Pasadena Central Library Auditorium. Please note that the library parking lot is for library patrons only. Parking is available for $3 flat rate in County parking lot #53 (corner of Ramona and Marengo, enter from Ramona Ave.) Free parking is available from 7 pm on in the Parole Office lot just east of the library building on Walnut St.
